What Design Can Do is an internationally acclaimed platform dedicated to exploring the potential of design as a tool for social change. Founded in Amsterdam, WDCD hosts various initiatives and challenges that invite designers and innovators worldwide to tackle pressing global issues through creative and sustainable solutions. The "Redesign Everything" challenge specifically calls for groundbreaking approaches to rethinking and redesigning products, materials, systems, and services to address urgent climate crises. This year's competition was particularly competitive, with 557 submissions from 73 countries. These entries spanned five categories: Products, Materials, Communications, Systems & Services, and Spaces.
We are excited to share that Polybion™ participated in the highly contested materials category, which saw 98 innovative material projects submitted. Celium™ stood out among these entries for its unique approach to sustainability and material innovation. By utilizing agro-industrial fruit waste, Celium™ transforms waste into a high-quality, versatile fabric, setting new standards in environmental responsibility, material performance and aesthetics. Winning this award is a testament to a decade of meticulous research, development, and refinement. It validates our efforts to push the boundaries of what is possible in material science and our commitment to creating great products that transcend mere sustainability.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to explore new frontiers in sustainability and material innovation.
