Secrid x Celium™: Industrial Evolution Meets Premium Cultivated Cellulose

At The Biofab Fair by Biofabricate, during London Design Festival, Polybion revealed a collection of wallets where Celium™, our Premium Cultivated Cellulose, meets Secrid’s philosophy of Industrial Evolution.

This collaboration brings together two companies that share a belief in responsible innovation, where design evolves through technology, intention, and care.

A Collaboration Between Precision and Growth

Secrid is a Dutch brand redefining what a wallet can be. Known for merging design with advanced functionality, they are equally committed to producing locally, measuring their environmental impact, and prioritizing durability and repairability.

For this collaboration, Secrid’s iconic silhouettes (the Slimwallet and Miniwallet) were crafted using Celium™ in two distinctive finishes: the depth of classic black and the vivid violet of violacein. Each surface carries patterns shaped by bacterial growth, making every piece one of a kind.

Celium™ was integrated directly into Secrid’s production process, confirming its compatibility with industrial cutting, embossing, and stitching, a key validation for scalability and performance.

Secrid’s Material Lab continuously explores materials that expand the language of design. With Celium™, a biomaterial cultivated from agroindustrial fruit waste, that exploration reaches the intersection of biology and engineering.
