After being one of the winners of the "Redesign Everything Challenge" by What Design Can Do, recently, our co-founders and CEOs, Axel and Alexis Gómez-Ortigoza, had the opportunity to attend the Sprint Week in Amsterdam. This event not only allowed us to connect with other companies and start-ups doing incredible things but also deeply inspired us with their innovative ideas in the fields of environment and design.
Design has the power to profoundly impact how we live, from the products we buy to the systems we use and the spaces we inhabit. Through creative and sustainable approaches, we can reimagine a world where our actions align with the well-being of the planet and future generations. During this enriching week, Polybion participated in studio visits with leading Dutch creative entrepreneurs, received training on creative entrepreneurship and leadership styles, and mastered public speaking and storytelling. We also engaged in peer learning and exchange, developing new connections and partnerships that will undoubtedly benefit Polybion's journey towards sustainability.
One of the highlights was Alexis presenting our project, "Celium™ by Polybion," on the main stage of the What Design Can Do Live festival on July 5th. This was a significant moment for us, showcasing the potential of Celium™ - Premium Cultivated Cellulose, and how it can transform the material industry through sustainable innovation.
We also proudly announce that thanks to this challenge, we are now partnering with Secrid. Our project was selected as one of the three most promising projects by Secrid, giving us additional press and support. Secrid's Impact Fund pledges 1% of the revenue to support talented designers who are driving positive change with new inventions. This way, Secrid is building a movement to help shift the focus of industry from producing more to producing better. Secrid will provide us with mentorship, feature us as part of the Secrid Talent Podium, and allow us to participate in events such as the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven.
We are grateful for the opportunity to be part of this transformative program and to learn from such a diverse and talented group of innovators. The insights and connections gained during Sprint Week will be invaluable as we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in material science and sustainable design.
